To be honest, I don’t know much about this. A beloved brother of mine from India informed me of this.

By the way, do you live in India? If you do, perhaps you can shed more light on this event.

    Salam,
My deep concern is the open support for Secularism and Pluralism? I mean do any of you or the ullama know what they are saying? If they don’t then who’s behind this rally organisation and will they really unite or is it just a paper exercise. Secularism and religious pluralism are ideas against ISLAM. It undermines and under values our Islamic Identity. Can you all please research deeper into this rather than be pleased with just the apparent face of so many khanqah’s getting together.

    Walaykum as’salaam Abdullah,

You have to firstly understand the importance of Pirs/Murshids and Khanqahs in the Islamic world, especially in the Sub-Continent. So, if the average person sees a ‘big Pir’ denouncing terrorism, that person will also denounce terrorism, thus staying away from extremist groups. Very simple logic.

Another reason for the event was to get all the parties together again (there has been many splits in the past between these groups). A nation-wide strong Sunni organisation that consists of the major Scholars and Pirs can be very effective. But only if done in the right way.

So you are right, we need more than just a rally. We need to use our intelligence and THINK.

I must thank the Sufi brothers. i think those who are constantly moaning about the real purpose or identity of these sufis must realise and atleast appreicate their efforts. They must also contemplate as to what they are doing for Islam and Muslims against the devils of terrorism.
